About Mark
Pastor Mark Hodgetts is a seasoned Christian minister, Bible-teacher and conference speaker hailing from South Africa. He founded the EDIFI Initiative which provides Bible teaching resources, curriculum and training for churches and schools.
Since 1976, Mark (along with his wife Cora) has been in full-time ministry, placing strong emphasis on discipleship, sound doctrine, and equipping the church through teaching. He is well-known for his dynamic and engaging preaching style—often combining humour with deep theological insight.
Mark’s work with the EDIFI Initiative is global: he has partnered with Bible schools and churches across Africa to provide pre-developed courses and structured Bible studies, thereby enabling local churches to access quality Christian education without reinventing the wheel.
His public profile includes speaking engagements at conferences, seminaries and churches, and he is active on social media where he is described as an itinerant teacher of the Word.
Ministry Focus & Philosophy
Pastor Mark’s core conviction is that the local church must be grounded in sound biblical teaching, spiritual maturity and balanced practice. He teaches that believers should live with intentionality, discernment, and a deep love for the truth of God’s Word. For example, in an interview he addressed themes of “spiritual maturity, discernment and balance.”
Through EDIFI Initiative, his mission has been to equip and empower leaders and congregations to study, teach and apply Scripture in their context—especially in Africa where resource-constraints may limit access to high-quality training. The organization provides ready-to-use Bible study courses, curriculum, books and lessons for churches and schools internationally.
Personal & Legacy
Mark and his wife Cora have been ministry partners since the inception of their call. Their combined decades of experience reflect a commitment to applying the Word of God with relevance, cultural sensitivity and theological integrity.
His legacy is one of equipping the church, advancing teaching with integrity, and serving in a cross-cultural context. He continues to travel, preach, teach and expand his ministry, helping churches raise leaders, build resources, and strengthen their foundations.
