About Jacob
Jake Schwertfeger has spent the last 14 years ministering in Zambia, Africa, where he has committed himself to bringing the Gospel to some of the most overlooked and underserved regions of the world. Together with his wife, Jessi, and their three children—Sunda, Kya, and Noah—Jake has embraced a life of radical obedience to the Great Commission. Their family’s heartbeat is to see Jesus Christ receive the reward of His sufferings by ensuring that every person, no matter how remote or forgotten, has the opportunity to encounter the transforming power of the Gospel.
Over the years, Jake has become deeply rooted in African culture and the rhythms of rural village life. What began as a step of faith has grown into a lifelong calling shaped by genuine relationships, perseverance, and a love for the people they serve. Whether traveling by foot, boat, motorbike, or bush plane, Jake has consistently gone wherever the Gospel has not yet been heard—trekking into isolated communities, encouraging local leaders, and helping establish sustainable ministry efforts that empower people to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and socially.
Today, Jake serves as the International Head of Operations for Overland Missions, a global organization dedicated to pioneering the Gospel in remote regions. In this capacity, he helps oversee international strategy, logistics, and operational development across multiple nations. His leadership ensures that missionary teams are equipped, supported, and positioned to succeed in challenging environments. Jake’s role allows him to blend administrative excellence with frontline ministry, ensuring that Overland’s global impact continues to grow with strength, clarity, and long-term vision.
